Myles is having an ordinary day when something extraordinary happens: suddenly, he can see everyone’s energy and how it reacts depending on their intentions. The best thing about this book is that it has a strong moral lesson — your words and actions affect everyone around you. Most importantly, I believe kids will like and relate to the characters. Sally was the most interesting character in my opinion, intentionally going against the grain with gentle rebellion and incredible confidence. My biggest issue with the book was that Dee did a lot more telling than showing — pieces of backstory that could’ve been easily worked into a scene were instead given paragraphs worth of exposition. Sadly, it ends with a cliffhanger, my least favorite kind of ending! However, it’s clear to see that this book is setting up a grand adventure to be told in future novels, and it will be interesting to see where the series goes next.”
