Why do we believe if a relationship ends we should stop loving that person?

For some reason we believe if a relationship ends we should stop loving that person… whether we chose the ending or not love doesn’t just end, it never does. Yes we feel anger and pain and sometimes like we gain our power back if we shut off our feelings… but that only lasts temporarily and corrodes our soul. We suffer and feel intense pain when we deny love. When we do we only hurts ourselves. We are taught and believe love should be exclusive, that we should only love one significant other. Why? Why can’t we decide a relationship should end, it isn’t what’s best, but separate holding the love close for the other? Love cannot be turned off like a light switch. The intensity and interaction of love may change, but it never ends. True love is infinite, non exclusive, not based on physical conditions or limitations. Love never ends. When we deny it we only hurt ourselves, so why do we try to… © Jodi Healy
