The “chase” game is not love…

The “chase” game is not love…

Too often men and women are entangled in a subconscious age old dance called the “chase” game (not the initial pursuit most of us enjoy). The “chase” game is an ancient patterning, deeply engrained in our psyche that causes much pain and unnecessary suffering. And subconsciously, we believe it’s “love”. It starts when one person feels hurt or pain in a relationship (each couple has their own triggers). Rather than deal with the trigger or pain, they lash out, reject the other, leave, or says it’s over (we’ve all been there). Then, in fear and sadness, not wanting it to end, the other chases. The one who initially felt hurt somehow feels satisfied the other “loves” them, temporarily masking the initial pain… and this goes on and on, both stuck in this pattern, both participating, rejecting and chasing at different times. Neither solving the problem or healing the triggers. But, we can break the cycle… by owning our feelings, alone, then engaging and sharing our pain… © Jodi Healy
