If we have to make someone do something they really don’t want to, it won’t last…

Resistance to what is, is ultimately choosing suffering. It is a choice we make even if we believe we are a victim. Yes, things will happen, things will affect us, people will hurt us, but in the end we can’t control life or them. We may try, and it may even work temporarily… We can “train” a dog and sometimes even a person but if we have to make someone do something they really don’t want to, it won’t last. And it probably won’t satisfy us anyways because it isn’t real, we know we are forcing it. Our suffering is a direct result of wanting something or someone to be different. We resist what is. We reject life trying to push us in a different direction… We don’t have to. Let go. Pain is a part of life but suffering is a choice… © Jodi Healy
