As a child, every other child is a friend. As an adult, a stranger…

As a child, every other child is automatically seen as a “friend”… an opportunity, safe, interesting, open, having something to offer, fun. Why as adults does this change? Why do we automatically turn other people into strangers… become cautious, skeptical, hesitant, protective, leery, uninterested, defensive? Yes, we grow and learn people do “bad” things… and we learn fear, but those situations are really the anomaly, not the norm.
